Grain

What inspired this piece? An old piece of driftwood first scavenged by my mother, now mine, and a constant decoration in our home. The grain in the wood, the beautiful rings marking the age of the tree before it transformed to driftwood, once I began drawing I couldn’t stop. The natural and hypnotizing pattern of wood is easy to get lost in. Wood grain and tree rings rendered in coloured pencil and marker.

Anxiety is a series that started as a way for me to disconnect from my anxiety and reconnect with my creativity. My inspiration for these pieces was always found nearby, more precisely from the comfort of ‘my spot on the couch’ — I started by drawing something within view and what followed was a surprise, even to me. Each piece is an act of letting go, letting my mind be free and seeing where my hand and my unconscious mind lead me. This print is from the Anxiety collection.
