About The Art

What inspired this piece? The small sliver of the Halifax Harbour I could see from our apartment windows — and the waves. Always the waves. Rolling purple and pink coloured pencil lines capture their calm and their energy, the way they feel like home to me. Whether the water is quiet or wild, I find the waves are part of me.

Anxiety is a series that started as a way for me to disconnect from my anxiety and reconnect with my creativity. My inspiration for these pieces was always found nearby, more precisely from the comfort of ‘my spot on the couch’ — I started by drawing something within view and what followed was a surprise, even to me. Each piece is an act of letting go, letting my mind be free and seeing where my hand and my unconscious mind lead me. From the Anxiety collection.
