Leaf

What inspired this piece? I found a ginkgo balboa leaf on the ground one day on my way home from work. Its’ unique and whimsical shape enchanted me! Like any true artist, I marched that leaf home with me to start drawing. All the other leaves in the drawing fell into place. Leaf was inspired by nature and showcases, in marker and coloured pencil, dozens of colourful, vivid leaves on a vibrant pink and orange background.

Anxiety is a series that started as a way for me to disconnect from my anxiety and reconnect with my creativity. My inspiration for these pieces was always found nearby, more precisely from the comfort of ‘my spot on the couch’ — I started by drawing something within view and what followed was a surprise, even to me. Each piece is an act of letting go, letting my mind be free and seeing where my hand and my unconscious mind lead me. This print is from the Anxiety collection.
