Love

What inspired this piece? A silly question for such a subject… all the love around me inspired this drawing. How love sits amidst the darkest of things and can still shine brightly. How love can find beauty in all places. It’s funny this isn’t the most colourful drawing since it’s about love, yet amongst the darkness, all the colour POPS! Love POPS! Love is the seed that started it all. Drawn with coloured pencil and marker, I imagined all the flowers that bloom from love—how a flower loses her petals and stays beautiful while doing so. Some of the petals remind me of paper airplanes, and I see them as seeds moving through the world, seeking their soil. Seeking their love.

Anxiety is a series that started as a way for me to disconnect from my anxiety and reconnect with my creativity. My inspiration for these pieces was always found nearby, more precisely from the comfort of ‘my spot on the couch’ — I started by drawing something within view and what followed was a surprise, even to me. Each piece is an act of letting go, letting my mind be free and seeing where my hand and my unconscious mind lead me. This print is from the Anxiety collection.
